Latin America has emerged as a hotbed for tech expansion. Driven by a surge in mobile adoption, cloud demand, and software development, the region now offers a deep pool of skilled, cost-effective talent — and a time zone that syncs neatly with the US.

Governments are leaning in with tech-friendly policies, and universities are fueling the pipeline (Mexico alone graduates around 130,000 engineers each year). The result? A regional boom that global players can’t ignore.

Cities like São Paulo, Mexico City, Bogotá, and Buenos Aires are fast becoming regional tech hubs. Since 2021, the number of companies hiring engineers in LatAm has jumped by over 156%. Below are some of the biggest US-based companies growing their presence in the region:

Microsoft

Microsoft launched its first Latin American cloud region in Chile in 2025 and now operates offices in Mexico City, Bogotá, and beyond. Its LatAm strategy supports local customers while integrating regional engineering talent into its global teams.

Amazon

Amazon has been in LatAm for years, including fulfillment centers in Costa Rica and offices in Mexico and Brazil. In 2025, it doubled down with a $5 billion AWS investment in Mexico, including new data centers — a major bet on the region’s digital future.

Google

With offices in São Paulo, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires, Google’s LatAm footprint covers sales, marketing, and engineering. In 2024, it announced its first LatAm data center in Mexico, boosting Google Cloud services across the region.

IBM

IBM has operated in Latin America for decades, with major offices in Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. The company is one of several global IT firms with significant operations in Guadalajara (a city often called "Mexico’s Silicon Valley").

Meta

With over 100 million Facebook users in Brazil alone, LatAm is one of Meta’s most active markets. Offices in São Paulo, Mexico City, and Bogotá manage ad sales and community operations, while Meta invests in digital infrastructure and training programs.

Cisco

Cisco has long supported Latin American telecom and government clients. It opened a Center of Innovation in Rio in 2013 and recently expanded with engineering sites for Cisco Meraki and ThousandEyes in Mexico City.

Salesforce

Salesforce announced a $500 million investment in Argentina in 2025 to grow its LatAm operations. It already has two Buenos Aires offices, where MuleSoft engineers are developing AI-powered tools and data integration platforms.

Oracle

Oracle runs seven cloud regions in Latin America — the most of any provider — with sites in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. Its regional offices support a broad client base across finance, telecom, and retail.

Intel

Intel's Costa Rica campus, opened in 1997, now employs 3,700 people working on R&D, testing, and assembly. In Mexico, its Guadalajara Design Center is a key global engineering hub — proving Intel’s long-standing investment in regional talent.

Uber

Uber serves 25 million riders monthly across 200+ LatAm cities. Its São Paulo Tech Center, opened in 2018, focuses on safety and product improvements. Local support teams across the region ensure services stay tailored to LatAm markets.
