Baan, acquired by Infor in 2003, was an early pioneering enterprise resource planning (ERP) software provider for manufacturing companies. Baan was founded in the Netherlands and offered solutions to optimize production processes and supply chain management. The company's flagship product was BaanERP, which integrated financials, distribution, project management and human resources into a single system that could be used across different country-specific regulatory environments. An early player alongside SAP and Oracle in the global ERP market during the 1990s, Baan software's popularity has waned since its acquisition by Infor; however, it still has dedicated users thanks to functionality targeting complex manufacturing operations.
