Basic4android (B4A) is a rapid application development tool for native Android applications created by Anywhere Software in 2010. B4A follows the syntax of Microsoft's Visual Basic, making it more accessible to programmers who are not necessarily familiar with Java, the primary language used for creating Android apps. At its core is an integrated development environment that lets developers design user interfaces, write code with features like code completion and debugging, compile projects into APK files ready for distribution on Google Play or other platforms. B4A supports hardware components such as cameras and GPS devices through additional libraries and can integrate with SQLite databases. The tool also recently added support for iOS development using B4i (Basic4iOS).
