Blitz Basic

Blitz BASIC is a programming language. It's an evolution of the Amiga programming language AMOS BASIC and was first released in 1997 by Blitz Research Ltd. The language was created to be more accessible than traditional languages like C++ for game development, making it easier for hobbyists and beginners to create 2D games and multimedia applications with its simple syntax. Over time, Blitz BASIC has evolved into several versions, including BlitzPlus, Blitz3D, BlitzMax (which can compile to Windows, macOS X and Linux), Monkey X (a multi-platform successor), and Cerberus X. These versions added capabilities such as 3D rendering functions and improved performance compared to its earlier iterations while maintaining ease of use.
