Business Intelligence Markup Language

Business Intelligence Markup Language (BIML) is a programming language designed to standardize the metadata associated with business intelligence (BI) solutions. The language was developed by Varigence to simplify and automate the creation of BI frameworks and data integration processes in Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). BIML uses XML-based syntax, allowing developers to define and generate SSIS packages from templates that adhere to best practices without writing hundreds of lines of code manually. BimlScript, an extension of the original BIML framework, lets users incorporate C# or Visual Basic .NET code into their BIML code files for further customization.
