Hierarchical Editing Language For Macromolecules

The Hierarchical Editing Language for Macromolecules, or HELM, is a notation system designed to represent complex macromolecular structures. By providing a standard way to describe these molecules at the structural level, it simplifies the sharing and exchange of information in drug discovery and development. HELM uses ASCII strings that can be easily stored in databases or transmitted over networks without losing structural information. The notation system also has an associated software toolkit with parsers and renderers for visualization purposes within electronic laboratory notebooks or other chemical software applications.
