MAPPER is a programming language used for database management. It was developed in the 1960s by General Electric as a specialized tool for the Mark III and Honeywell Level 6 systems. MAPPER's syntax is designed to simplify complex queries and transformations on large datasets, offering intuitive features tailored to data manipulation tasks through high-level commands rather than detailed procedural code. This helped non-technical professionals work with business data without extensive programming knowledge and reduced errors in manual coding processes. Over time, the language evolved into BIS (Business Information Server) Mapper on VME mainframes and subsequently transitioned to server-based solutions and SQL integration for modern data handling needs.
