MetaPost is an extension of Donald Knuth’s MetaFont, designed by John Hobby. It's a programming language that creates vector graphics through the description of shapes and paths in a geometrically precise manner. As part of the TeX typesetting system, MetaPost uses declarative code to define graphics using equations and expressions resembling those in algebraic geometry. The system's ability to convert mathematical formulas into figures makes it particularly suitable for technical drawings in documents requiring high-quality print output.
