Nessus Attack Scripting Language

Nessus Attack Scripting Language (NASL) is a domain-specific language used to write security checks for the Nessus vulnerability scanner. NASL scripts define how to check for vulnerabilities and are executed by the plug-ins within the Nessus scanning engine. The language allows for complex logic, network interaction, data handling and reporting of potential security issues across different types of systems — from web applications to database servers. NASL has evolved along with Nessus to keep pace with new vulnerabilities and attack methodologies, contributing significantly to the product's efficacy as a widely-used security solution in both enterprise environments and by cybersecurity professionals worldwide.
