Ana is a programming language for data analysis. It was developed at AT&T Laboratories in the mid-1990s by John Chambers and Clifford Hastie, among others. Ana was designed as an acronym for 'Analysis of Variance'. It is now part of the R statistical computing functional set provided by the R package. The language has functions that allow users to perform data manipulation, analysis, and visualization on complex data sets typically found in statistics or machine learning research.
