Easylanguage

EasyLanguage is a programming language designed to facilitate the development of custom indicators and trading strategies on the TradeStation platform. It was developed with straightforward English-like syntax, making it accessible even to those without prior programming experience. This language allows users to perform real-time market analysis and historical back-testing, which aids in optimizing trading decisions by testing concepts against historical data before applying them in live markets. Its creation aimed at reducing risks and improving performance for traders and investors.

Omega Research, now known as TradeStation Technologies, Inc., established EasyLanguage in 1982 to provide user-friendly tools for traders within the TradeStation ecosystem. Over the years, this language has evolved significantly under TradeStation Technologies' stewardship to keep up with the dynamic needs of financial market participants. The simplification provided by its plain English-like syntax facilitates efficient creation of trading tools and strategies, alongside functionalities like real-time market analysis and historical back-testing that help traders fine-tune their systems effectively.

In contrast to competitors like MetaTrader’s MQL or NinjaTrader’s NinjaScript, EasyLanguage stands out due to its distinctive features such as an easily understandable syntax tailored for non-programmers and robust testing capabilities integrated into the TradeStation platform. While MQL is widely used in forex markets through MetaTrader, offering similar tool-creation functionalities but with a steeper learning curve, NinjaScript serves advanced analytical purposes within NinjaTrader's environment. EasyLanguage's user-friendly design not only simplifies strategy development but also offers comprehensive evaluation tools that potentially reduce risk and enhance performance for its users within the TradeStation community.
