FileMaker is a cross-platform relational database application. The software incorporates an intuitive graphical interface for designing custom databases, scriptable processes, and easy-to-use drag-and-drop database management. Launched in the 1980s as a Macintosh-based program by Claris (formerly Apple Computer Inc.), it has since evolved to support Windows operating systems and web-based applications. FileMaker uses a proprietary file format that supports both the structure of the database and data itself, allowing users to create forms, scripts, reports, and charts within one ecosystem.
