Palo Alto Networks' Next-Generation Firewall is a security platform for network traffic inspection and threat prevention. It uses deep packet inspection to identify the application in use, which allows administrators to set granular policies that control how different applications can be used over the network. The firewall also inspects content to detect and block malware and other threats. It works either on-premises or in cloud environments with automated threat protection updates through machine learning algorithms powered by its WildFire service intelligence engine.
