S/sl

S/SL (Structured/System Structured Language) is a programming language for enterprise-level transaction processing, integrating both structured and object-oriented constructs. Designed to work with compilers for IBM mainframe environments, S/SL was developed by Fujitsu in the early 1990s to address the limitations of traditional structured programming languages when dealing with complex business processes. It provides features such as data hiding, encapsulation, and reuse while maintaining high performance and reliability. Despite being adopted by some Japanese companies in the financial sector, S/SL never gained widespread adoption outside its home market due to its perceived complexity compared to mainstream alternatives like COBOL or C++.
