Transact-SQL (T-SQL) is a proprietary extension of SQL that's used with Microsoft SQL Server. The language encompasses the syntax used to create stored procedures, triggers, functions and declarative components in databases running on MS SQL servers. Primarily an integration of procedural programming elements like conditions and loops into the SQL framework, Transact-SQL enables developers to implement complex logic at the database level. T-SQL can efficiently handle large volumes of data through its set-based operations, reducing network traffic by allowing database processing to be performed by the server rather than requiring applications to retrieve raw data for manipulation.
