Budget analysts help organizations manage their finances by preparing budget reports and monitoring spending. These professionals work with different departments to develop the organization’s annual budget and ensure that it is aligned with strategic goals. To do this, they review financial records, analyze data on revenue and expenditures, and make recommendations for improving efficiency. Budget analysts may also be involved in forecasting future financial needs or outcomes based on different scenarios. They typically possess strong mathematical skills, attention to detail, proficiency with spreadsheets and other financial software tools as well as a good understanding of accounting principles and practices.
