Darkbasic

DarkBASIC is a straightforward game-making tool for beginners. The engine lets developers work with simple syntax and built-in commands that handle complex operations behind the scenes. DarkBASIC was first released in 1999 by The Game Creators and has gone through several iterations, including DarkBASIC Classic, DarkBASIC Pro, Dark Basic Professional Edition (DBPE), and DBPro. Over time, the engine has been updated to support better graphics capabilities including OpenGL integration. As a game development platform designed for ease of use and accessibility to newcomers, it's often used in educational settings to teach programming and computer science concepts through hands-on experience with creating games from the ground up without getting bogged down in complex code structures or advanced mathematics required by more sophisticated engines like Unity or Unreal Engine.
